The annual meeting is always a great occasion however this year’s SSVP Annual Meeting reflects more than ever the priorities of Vincentians across Scotland; Spirituality – Social Justice – Youth
Replicating every Conference meeting the day began with prayer. Mass was celebrated by Bishop Toal, Bishop of Motherwell.
The guest speaker this year, Peter Kelly, Director of Poverty Alliance brought to the meeting a lifetime of action and advocacy for those living with poverty. He addressed the meeting saying “Society is damaged by poverty in Society” and invited SSVP Members to get involved locally with Community projects and to be involved together with Poverty Alliance.
SSVP Scotland already support Give Me Five, Scottish Living Wage & Stick your Labels Campaigns. Members felt enriched by the presentation & were motivated to do more.
Youth from Primary, Secondary & University were represented, each telling how involvement with SSVP Scotland had influenced their lives. The presentations were inspirational and gave testimony to the good work being done.
