Justice and Peace Scotland offer sessions on Catholic Social Teaching to interested parishes and SSVP conferences. This is a good opportunity for SSVP to consider the influence of CST on the organisation.
Frederic Ozanam, the main founder of the SSVP, embraced many of the ideas that have now been incorporated into CST. In his letters, writings and lectures, he anticipates some of the elements of what later became known as Catholic Social Teaching. Thomas O’Brien, writing about Ozanam states, ‘evidence for Ozanam’s influence on Catholic social thought is both copious and compelling’.[1] If you are interested, please contact Justice and Peace Scotland directly: Email office@justiceandpeacescotland.org.uk
