Do you remember the phrase, “The new norm”?
It was all the buzz during Covid. We were forced to change the way we worked, shopped, lived!
We realised there was alternative ways to living.
I don’t know about you, but my ‘new norm’ never happened. In fact, at times I think my life is busier than before Covid!
Jesus must have led a busy life. People would travel miles to hear Him, to seek healing for themselves or those they loved. He was constantly seeking out those on the edges of society, those who were ‘lost’. Alongside this, He was preparing His apostles for the day He would no longer be with them. Despite all this, Jesus knew His need for pray, His need for time with His Father. He would often go off alone to pray. These must have been important times for Jesus.
How aware are you of your need for these moments of prayer, just being with the Father?
Prayer doesn’t always need words.
Prayer is just being in the presence of the God who loves us, the God who will listen to anything we want to tell Him and who will speak in our hearts the words we need to hear.
Our forty days of Lent invite us to journey with Jesus in His forty days in the desert, that time He spent in prayer with His Father. Our invitation in Lent is to put aside something and give the time to be in the presence of our loving Father in prayer…..using words only when necessary!
