Sr. Maria reflects on this week’s Gospel passage for the fourth week of Lent:

The other day I was working with some 8 year old children who are preparing for 1st
Communion. We were acting out the Last Supper and went on to talk about Good Friday.
Asked them why it was called Good Friday, when the soldiers were so cruel to Jesus and He
died that day. One child replied, “Jesus died to show us how much He loved us, and that’s
what makes it Good Friday”

Out of the mouths of children and babes! They put it so simply.
The question for each of us is, “Do I really know how much Jesus loves me”
This Sunday is the story of the Prodigal Son, the Forgiving Father.
Can I invite you to read the story in Luke’s gospel, Chapter 15, verses 11 to 24.
As you read the passage imagine yourself as the Prodigal Son and let the father’s desire to
find you touch your heart.
Read it again, this time allowing yourself to see if through the eyes of the Forgiving Father,
allowing yourself to feel the pain of loss of a child and the joy of finding them again.

For us, all of this happens in the beautiful Sacrament of Reconciliation!

Blessings as you continue to journey through Lent with Jesus.
