New Real Living Wage Announced Today

At SSVP Scotland, we support The Living Wage and are pleased with the announcement today – both the UK and London Living Wage rates have risen. This means a pay rise for hundreds of thousands of workers. The new rates apply to all staff and subcontracted workers aged over 18.

The Living Wage rates are the only rates independently calculated based on what people need to live on.

In the 20 years since the movement began and the 10 years of ’employer accreditations’; over 300,000 workers have had a pay-rise because of the real Living Wage, almost 9,000 employers have become accredited and £1.6 billion in extra wages has gone to low-paid workers.
