As Christmas draws nearer, the pressures get heavier; ……have I bought the presents I need?
……are the Christmas cards written and posted?
……..I must get a turkey soon or there won’t be any left in the shops …….the tree needs to up The pressures are there, without a doubt!!!
I wonder what pressures Mary and Joseph were experiencing a few days before she was due to give birth.
She certainly wasn’t worrying about presents or turkeys.
She was going to give birth to the child the Angel Gabriel told her about. How she must have wondered at what this child would become. Joseph too must have spent many hours wondering about this baby, the child he would become father to, the Son of God.
Through our baptism this child, the Son of God, lives in us, prays in us. This week, take time away from the pressures of the commercial side of Christmas and spend time on the spiritual side. This child, the Son of God, wants to be born again in each of us this Christmas. He wants to gift us with His Joy and Peace.
Make space in your life for Him to do this.
